Please enjoy this week’s Scripture Garden which combines both written and visual prompts to help you create your own based on the idea from my book, Soul Gardening. I hope you’re encouraged to dream in a garden, discover your spiritual season, and find peace for your soul.
WRITTEN
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV
VISUAL
DEVOTIONAL
I shared on January 31st that love is my deepest desire. Christians love to talk about love, especially in the context of relationships. There are countless how-to articles, memes, and clothing to display your view on “Love is Love”, John 3:16, or how to be inclusive.
But to me, it sounds like a cliché. And I am not a fan of clichés.
The world needs love, period. We are more divided than ever, and I believe people are not finding love because something is missing.
That something is the gospel. The Good News that Jesus saves!
“Those who are acutely aware of their own sin and God’s extravagant mercy will inevitably be merciful and patient themselves. But if your heart is proud and hard and haughty, then it raises the question of whether you have really comprehended the gospel at all.” (Luke 1-12 For You: For reading, for feeding, for leading (God's Word For You)
Love is gospel. The greatest commandment. Jesus said,
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
That’s a lot to process.
I’ve heard this verse my whole life, yet I don’t even understand what it means to live it out. Maybe you feel the same way?
DIGGING DEEPER
